What is Medical Analysis?

It is a fact, that even the well-read people do not know, what Medical Transcription or better yet, Medical Analysis is. Most of the people have only a vague, at times wrong notion about it. Still many others keep their doubts helplessly to themselves

Know it, once and for all.

In most of the Western countries, health insurance companies pay for health care services. So detailed medical records are needed for processing insurance claims. In addition to this, most of the Western countries award significant ‘punitive damages' when health care providers are found negligent. Therefore, detailed medical records are needed to defend from court cases claiming negligence. Here comes the inevitable and significant role of a Medical Analyst.

A Medical Analyst listens to the dictated recordings made by physicians or other medical professionals and converts them into Electronic Medical Records, in a prescribed format. It can be anything like operating-room notes, autopsy reports, discharge summaries, or any other document. Unlike other jobs, here one does not have to speak to anyone. One has to listen to the dictation and type it out.

Difference between Medical Analysis and Medical Transcription.

People, who are already familiar with Medical Transcription, are likely to take both Medical Analysis and Medical Transcription for the same thing.

There is a wide difference between Medical Analysis and Medical Transcription. In Medical Transcription, a Transcriber simply transcribes the voice file into word document. He does not analyze the transcribed documents. He is least concerned about the medical accuracy or relevance.

On the contrary, a Medical Analyst examines the files; he/she has transcribed, finds out the mistakes, and if any, rectifies it. He is ever vigilant and alert to the mistake the physician may make inadvertently. Any Medical Analyst can be a Medical Transcriber, but not vice-versa. It is the enhanced and modified training, devised and executed by certain companies, that enables a Medical Analyst to be impeccable.
